Dear Colleagues,The Graduate School is happy to announce the release of a new “Guide to Recruiting and Retaining Minority Graduate Students,”created by GO-MAP and based on input from departments across campus. As mentioned in the recent UW Today article, the guide seeks to supplement the efforts by graduate departments and programs to attract and retain minority graduate students. Within the guide you will find great tips in four distinct areas: outreach, admissions, recruitment and retention. Each segment was developed in concert with feedback and suggestions from focus groups comprised of GPAs from various departments throughout campus. We hope that you will take some time to review the information contained on this site and that you will find information that will be useful to you in your recruitment and retention efforts.

If you have not already done so, we also encourage you to review the Graduate School Diversity Report mentioned in a UW Today article on Nov. 16. Part of a series of Graduate School reports providing information about graduate education trends at the UW and nationwide, the Diversity Report can be viewed here.

For the past 40 years, gomap with any suggestions or comments. Thank you!

Warm regards,
