Must We Pay for Sanskrit?

This is an excellent article about the value of liberal arts education. And from my perspective… YES we should pay for Sanskrit and all the other languages and subjects that UW is famous for teaching.

Enjoy!

That is the title of an article in the latest LRB.

It doesn’t actually have much to do with Sanskrit, but is about the value and purpose of the university. Here Sanskrit is offered as a metonym for scholarship that does not have an immediate cash value.
