Volunteers needed for upcoming Tzu Chu Special Olympics event

The Seattle chapter of Tzu Chi is proud to organize the First Annual “Tzu Chi Special Olympics” event for multicultural families and children with disabilities next month.

 

When: Saturday, SEPTEMBER 3 from 1-5pm

Where: Highland community center park (behind Bellevue YMCA)

Why: For multicultural families to come together for an afternoon of fun and games with their special needs children. Families will be divided up into three teams with the chance to win prizes! All children participants, regardless of ability stand to win medals for their participation so no one will go home empty-handed! Snacks and drinks will also be provided for the day.

 

1. Volunteers will be needed to help with a variety of responsibilities:

a. Registering families and children upon arrival i.e. name tags, assigning team numbers

etc.

b. Facilitate the games and activities i.e. game demonstrations, cheering and

encouraging team members to support their teams.

c. Provide extra support to families and children especially during games (if necessary).

d. Keeping the kids focused during transitional periods between tasks and games.

e. Helping out with snacks and drinks.

f. Being flexible with the duties assigned.

g. Have a GREAT time with the kids!

2. Volunteers with prior experience working with special needs children are preferred but not

necessary.

 

Tzu Chi USA is a humanitarian Buddhist compassion relief foundation that is all-volunteer and non-profit that focuses on four major missions: charity, medicine, education, and humanistic culture.

The foundation also engages in international disaster relief, bone marrow donation, community volunteerism, and environmental protection. “Tzu Chi” means “compassion and relief.
